The Things Which Consume Us

It’s been a busy day. I had lunch with my sisters and then we started a bit of shopping for Christmas. In the evening we watched The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and it was fantastic.

Now I am in bed and I’m exhausted…

P.S. There are a lot of things to say about the movie, but one of the main themes that I’ve found was that about things which consume us. There need not be an actual ring or a stone–a physical manifestation of our desires–in order to realise how fixed we are about one thing. It could be an idea or a poisonous dream–how we are unable to let go of something we haven’t attained yet, how we are so fixed with wanting to get there, that we change in the process, and we forget why we wanted it in the first place…
