I was in the middle of a letter when news came about an earthquake. It’s far from Manila, but two of my friends live in Cebu, which was near the epicenter. The damage looks severe–especially to old architecture, which embodied hundreds of history.
For now I can breathe that both K. and C. are safe. There’s a lot of shattered glass and other fallen objects to sweep though. Still.
I have to continue tomorrow. I have to see if they need me for anything, if I can something from where I am. (As I’m typing this, C. had just run out of the house because of the aftershocks.)
